Aviatour Hosts Charity Event at SM City Cebu

CEBU, PHILIPPINES -- Aviatour hosted its first "Click for a Cause" amateur photo exhibit last weekend (Oct. 23-25, 2009) at SM City Cebu.

To attract people to the event, the company displayed one of its Cessna 172 aircraft in front of the mall. Hundreds of people posed for photographs with the aircraft and climbed aboard to experience handling the controls. 

Amateur photograhers submitted close to 200 entries to the contest. It gave them a unique opportunity to showcase their talent while raising funds for a local orphanage.

In addition, the Philippine Air Force gave a seminar on search and rescue techniques and Aviatour provided aspiring pilots basic information on how to become a pilot.

Orphanage Kids Visit Aviatour Facilities 

MACTAN, CEBU -- To inspire interest in aviation, Aviatour and Bigfoot Studios invited children from the Albert Schweitzer Orphanage to take a field trip to the airport on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. 

About 60 children participated, providing a rare opportunity to take a closer look at Aviatour's aircraft and facilities.  

Gen. Danilo Francia, general manager of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) encouraged participants in a short pep talk to become pilots and to pursue their dreams. 

Aviatour instructors then divided the participants into groups and led them through a tour of the facility. Kids enjoyed climbing aboard Aviatour aircraft, giving them hands-on experience at the controls. They also watched several commercial aircraft take-off from the runway.
